If you have no Apple devices, this post is of no use to you and you can stop reading and close this page 😉
If you are using Apple mobile devices, please continue to read below.
Ok, so you have an iPhone of iPad.
Did you try upgrade to IOS 9 ?
If yes, then please DISABLE the new Wi-Fi Assist function -> (Settings / Cellular / Wi-Fi Assist)
Apple IOS9 Wi-Fi Assist
Wi-Fi assist is a new functionality to automatically switch to 3G/4G mobile network when free wifi connectivity is poor… if you do not have a mobile subscription that’s sufficient to cover your traffic, this can be a costly function.
Also important to know, if you already disabled it after the IOS9 upgrade.
Well if you do another upgrade to IOS 9.0.1… the function is ENABLED again.
And again if you upgrade to IOS 9.0.2…. again, it will be ENABLED.
So always check when doing a new upgrade, unless you mobile subscription can cover the extra traffic.
Good luck !
when apple released iOS7 yesterday (18/09/2013) around 19h00, I couldn’t resist to upgrade.
So first I made a nice system backup of my iPhone5 in itunes before starting the download.
This took about 2hours…. damn, servers were pretty overloaded I guess.
When it finished, I tried to commence with the actual upgrade, but this failed.. and after retrying over and over again, the phone was able to verify with Apple online and started the upgrade.
No problem was encountered and after signing into iCloud again, my iPhone5 was ready to go with iOS7.
The new design is really appealing and it handles very responsive.
Yesterday all my apps received a final update, support iOS7.
I must say, it really looks like my old Android, but I like the apple flavour and functionality over Android.
I think this would be a perfect place to post a few of my findings.
I just read and article that says that iOS7 is tracking your steps… I keeps a record of your frequent visited locations… looks like big brother is watching me by default.
Check it out yourself: Settings->Privacy->Location Services->System Services->Frequent Locations
Then go to MAPS and see the “Help Improve Maps?” message
2. open apps
Double-click the home button to give you a nice view of open Apps, scroll through the apps by swipe, close apps by draging it up the screen.
Very good news from Apple, because YOUTUBE returned to the appstore for IPHONE & IPAD: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/youtube/id544007664?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D2
One of the cool features is Airplay !
This morning I noticed our brand new iPhone 4S was frozen with a blank screen.
I had to perform a reset by doing the following:
<Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears>
Being an iPad started, I stumbled upon the following.
Trying to import photo’s with the iPad Camera Connection Kit..
I copied some .NEF (Nikon RAW) pictures into folders on an SDHC card.
Then I tried to import them in the ipad, but got the message “No photos to import”… strange!
Apparently you should create a folder “DCIM” on the root of the SDHC card to put all photos.
And the most annoying thing is the fact that file names shouldn’t be longer than 8 characters and on top of that file names should be like “_DSC0001” !
And now I noticed that he doesn’t detect any subfolders within DCIM either.
After that I detects all pictures and let’s you continue to import.
I will try this with a USB memory stick next time…
To conclude: Apple Bull Shit !
