How to enable vSphere ESX root SSH login

First of all you need physical access to the ESX host(s).

login as root

vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config


change “PermitRootLogin” to yes


Restart sshd service

VMware – How to change the keyboard layout in the vSphere Management Assistant

vmware vMA login:

Edit the keyboard file:
#sudo vi /etc/sysconfig/keyboard
change layout to “be-latin1” if you prefer French Azerty
“:wq”  to save and exit

Reboot the vMA:
#sudo reboot

Howto: migrate a VMware Workstation VM to a vSphere 4.1 VM ?

I prepared a Windows 2008 R2 DC VM on my Win7 & VMware workstation 7.1.4 pc.
Then I wanted to transform it to a VMware vSphere 4.1 VM.

The easiest way to do this, is to use the VMware Converter.
Afterwards I still have to change the following:
– VM properties: change guest os: Windows 7 -> Windows 2008 R2
– uninstall VMware Tools and reinstall VMware Tools
