If you have no Apple devices, this post is of no use to you and you can stop reading and close this page 😉
If you are using Apple mobile devices, please continue to read below.
Ok, so you have an iPhone of iPad.
Did you try upgrade to IOS 9 ?
If yes, then please DISABLE the new Wi-Fi Assist function -> (Settings / Cellular / Wi-Fi Assist)
Apple IOS9 Wi-Fi Assist
Wi-Fi assist is a new functionality to automatically switch to 3G/4G mobile network when free wifi connectivity is poor… if you do not have a mobile subscription that’s sufficient to cover your traffic, this can be a costly function.
Also important to know, if you already disabled it after the IOS9 upgrade.
Well if you do another upgrade to IOS 9.0.1… the function is ENABLED again.
And again if you upgrade to IOS 9.0.2…. again, it will be ENABLED.
So always check when doing a new upgrade, unless you mobile subscription can cover the extra traffic.
Good luck !
My iPhone5 with IOS704 regularly returns me the error “Invalid SIM” & “No SIM card installed”.
After restarting the phone… the error disappears.
But after a while the error returns…
Here are my findings while troubleshooting the issue:
1. restart phone… ok, but problem returns
2. airplane on/off doesn’t work
3. try network reset: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings (returns to factory network settings) > no solution
Network Reset returns the phone to normal service, but after a while the problem returns again…
4. next… replace nano-SIM: problem solved !
when apple released iOS7 yesterday (18/09/2013) around 19h00, I couldn’t resist to upgrade.
So first I made a nice system backup of my iPhone5 in itunes before starting the download.
This took about 2hours…. damn, servers were pretty overloaded I guess.
When it finished, I tried to commence with the actual upgrade, but this failed.. and after retrying over and over again, the phone was able to verify with Apple online and started the upgrade.
No problem was encountered and after signing into iCloud again, my iPhone5 was ready to go with iOS7.
The new design is really appealing and it handles very responsive.
Yesterday all my apps received a final update, support iOS7.
I must say, it really looks like my old Android, but I like the apple flavour and functionality over Android.
I think this would be a perfect place to post a few of my findings.
I just read and article that says that iOS7 is tracking your steps… I keeps a record of your frequent visited locations… looks like big brother is watching me by default.
Check it out yourself: Settings->Privacy->Location Services->System Services->Frequent Locations
Then go to MAPS and see the “Help Improve Maps?” message
2. open apps
Double-click the home button to give you a nice view of open Apps, scroll through the apps by swipe, close apps by draging it up the screen.
I noticed the missing emoticons in “WhatsApp”… so this is how to enable them on iOS:
Settings > General > Keyboard
Add New Keyboard
…after that you’ll be able to select the appropriate emoticon by pressing the globe on the keyboard.
